In Vitro Multiple Shoot Induction From Embryonic Axes of Annual Herbaceous Legume Faba Bean (Vicia faba L.)

چکیده
The faba bean (Vicia L.) is cultivated in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions only. It a rich source of protein an important food feed for human animal consumption. Faba beans have narrow genetic base their improvement through hybridization not feasible because high pollen self-incompatibility. This study was carried out using embryonic axis cv. Filiz99 Eresen87 regenerated on MS medium containing 11 different combinations BAP NAA. results showed 100% shoot regeneration frequency with maximum number 3.3 3.5 shoots per explant respectively. Regenerating were rooted 1 mg L–1 IAA. vitro continuously cultured 3 weeks to acclimatize them. approach could improve broad seed germination subsequently regeneration. also facilitate transformation studies.

Enhancing faba bean (Vicia faba L.) genome resources
Grain legume improvement is currently impeded by a lack of genomic resources. The paucity of genome information for faba bean can be attributed to the intrinsic difficulties of assembling/annotating its giant (~13 Gb) genome. In order to address this challenge, RNA-sequencing analysis was performed on faba bean (cv. Wizard) leaves. Read alignment to the faba bean reference transcriptome identif...
متن کاملGene Function Expression Profile of Faba bean (Vicia faba) Seeds
Faba bean (Vicia faba L) is one of the important grain crops worldwide and its genome, the largest among grain legumes (approx. 13.4 Gb), has yet to be sequenced. Comprehensive knowledge of genes expressed in the crop's large seeds would not only help drive new genetic improvements in the crop but also aid its future genome characterization. Here, we applied high throughput RNASeq (Quantificati...
متن کاملStructure and function of seed storage proteins in faba bean (Vicia faba L.)
The protein subunit is the most important basic unit of protein, and its study can unravel the structure and function of seed storage proteins in faba bean. In this study, we identified six specific protein subunits in Faba bean (cv. Qinghai 13) combining liquid chromatography (LC), liquid chromatography-electronic spray ionization mass (LC-ESI-MS/MS) and bio-information technology. The results...
متن کاملTrypsin inhibitor activity in the field bean (Vicia faba L.).
Wilson and McNab' reported an increase in live-weight and a reduction in pancreas size of chicks when field beans (Viciu fabu L.) were autoclaved at 120 "C for 30 min. Such effects may be due to the presence in the raw field bean of a trypsin inhibitor analogous to those found in the soyabean and other legumes. Information on the presence of trypsin inhibitors in the field bean and on growth of...
متن کاملElevated temperature drives a shift from selfing to outcrossing in the insect-pollinated legume, faba bean (Vicia faba)
Climate change can threaten the reproductive success of plants, both directly, through physiological damage during increasingly extreme weather events, and indirectly, through disruption of plant-pollinator interactions. To explore how plant-pollinator interactions are modified by extreme weather, we exposed faba bean (Vicia faba) plants to elevated temperature for 5 d during flowering, simulat...
